Title : Behind the Scenes: FUN!

Hi people! (Again!)

I think this project is very special. It does not represent 1 single school, which means that we do not have anyone to report to! Means that we can have all the fun we want!

The most obvious "fun" that we have would be our signature attire that we have for every sales week. In order, they are:

Sales 1: Yellow shirt and jeans
Sales 2: Terrorist (black shirt plus cap; modelled after the MRT advert)
Sales 3: Beach attire (just causal lar, not what you are thinking of)
Sales 4: Hip-Hop!! (Punk?)
Sales 5: Checker
Sales 6: Black and White
Sales 7: RETRO!
Sales 8: "boyfriends" shirt (I was not involved on that sales, so I didn’t need to where that :D )

I'm lazy to get the pictures loaded on this post lar, so just look back on all the old posts :)

Also, if you are one of our Volunteers, you would know how we treat you guys right? I'm always joking around! bringing the relaxed atmosphere to everyone. and being serious whenever needed. I'm sure the rest of the EXCO members are fun loving too!

Also, within the EXCO team, we are most of the time relaxed too! very little of super serious stuff, thanks to the nature of us! It is always a joy go have meetings with the team!

Yep! This will be a short post. I can't find a way to put down all the fun we had into words. Maybe Shi Hui will edit it or something.

Till next time,

Title : Behind the Scenes: Planning

Hi Guys!

(I got the permission from our Assistant Group Leader, Shi Hui to blog this time. So it's official!)

Shi Hui has been always showing you guys Pictures of "behind the scenes", where we have Hype-Ups (Briefing session) and Curtain Calls (Debriefing session) for both Dunman and RV. What you supporters and Volunteers don't see is the preparation of the project itself!

To ensure "Behind the Scenes" lives up to its name, I decided to tell you guys about how we, the EXCO members plan IDbadge! Maybe some of you can pick up some skills from us :D (And I'm so bored now. I'm literally rotting at home everyday)

As you know, the 4 EXCO members are from different schools. This is a good AND a bad point. Good in a sense that we can reach out to more people, and have a much bigger combined social circle (which means... MORE lobang!) Bad because we do not get to discuss face-to-face in meetings L and we live far apart. Brigitte lives in some place which till today, I don't know where it is on the Singapore map. (/Edit: Brigitte says: "ITS ON THE RED LINE!!")

Also, this group is formed as a result of our cause. So we are always motivated to reach our goals. State your goals right from the start of project, and constantly remind yourself about those goals. There was this instance, when we are discussing on how to increase sales, and the idea of marking down the price of our badges was on the table. Hui Shan (the Group Leader) immediately pulled us back by reminding us of the purpose of the project: not to sell the most badges, but more importantly to raise awareness than funds. That's where we put our thoughts back to track.

Next, the group focused a lot on our volunteers. Okay... we did not have alot of volunteers. Just 116 volunteers for sales to be exact. We do not want to have a very big group of volunteers, for the simple reason that they would not learn much from it. We want our volunteers to learn as much as we do in this project. And by having a small number of volunteers, we can pay more attention to each volunteer. By the end of both school's sales, I am confident to say that I know the majority of the volunteers, and still remain in contact with them after the project. We did many many special things for our volunteers. To sum them up, I've done a Mind Map of all things VOLUNTEER! (yea... I'm so bored that I did that): (Click to see it bigger yea? must save space...)

Yep! That's all I can think of now. I will update the Mind Map when I discover more information. I think we treat our volunteers very well! Don't you agree?

Also, we believe it or not, we had a SOP for Sales! here's a simplified version, of our weekly routine in this project.

Hm.. I think that's it for now! Will talk more "Behind the Scenes" soon yea?

Oh wait. Before I forget, the EXCO team just went to the YFC Final interview! We presented to 2 super nice people! If you are the judges reading this, THANKS for your time! I hope u had fun listening to as much as we presenting it J . We took a photo after the interview! its like the offcial end of Project IDbadge (the fundrasing part)

Title : Project IDbadge: The Results

The Youth For Causes competition has come to an end. The team is very happy and proud to announce that we have managed to raise $16,498.18 for Metta Home! (That's 10 times more than our seed funding of $1,600!) We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for your support in one way or another!

BUT! This is not the end of our fund-raising project! Although it will be of a smaller scale, we plan to have special sales in schools/funfairs and wherever we can sell! And volunteers will have the chance to visit our clients at Metta Home during the December holidays. Do feel free to contact us if you are interested too!

We hope this project has helped you in understanding more about the Intellectually Disabled. Visit our blog at for more updates!

Cheers!
